Welcome to Weekly Wonder.
This Week’s Wonder is:
THE FIRM BY JOHN GRISHAM
SO, WHAT’S UP WITH THE STORY?
Mitch McDeere, star student at Harvard Law School, finds himself being recruited by every law firm in the States but instead chooses a small nondescript firm, Bendini, Lambert and Locke in Memphis because they are offering a better starting package than the most prestigious law firms in Chicago and New York. He soon realises that if something seems too good to be true, it usually is.
A GLIMPSE BETWEEN THE PAGES
“Any lawyer worth his salt knew the first offer had to be rejected”
“I’m being followed so much I’m causing traffic jams.”
“Billing was the lifeblood of the Firm. Everything revolved around it”
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT IT
• It’s a John Grisham novel, enough said.
• The thrill that one gets straight from the first page is adrenaline-inducing.
• You can feel the apprehension and the lure of money creeping up on you from the very beginning so such an extent that you feel like shouting at Mitch, telling him not to go there.
• This is one of those few thrillers that will enthrall you no matter how many times you have read it before.
Well, I hope you like the book.
